Fashion week is over here in New York, London and in Milan as well and from every corner there have been reviews and fashion blogs booming out. I've read quite a few, because the fashion critics and their opinions are as important as the trends themselves.
Just like the Oscars wouldn't be Oscars without the work of critics and their opinions about movies that are worth of seeing, fashion would not move forward without its critics praising or dissing it.
One of my favorite fashion critics is Cathy Horyn from NY Times who's fearless and colorful expression of trends and styles gets me each time. This season, the article that caught my eye was regarding the latest Bottega Veneta collection from Milan and her appraisal of their creative director Tomas Maier.

Cathy's style is always so refreshing and honest, that sometimes it might work to her disadvantage and get her in hot waters with some of the designers, but she always comes back as honest as ever staying truthful to herself like she can be. Her fashion "Jargon" is irresistible and comments like "Bottega Veneta is a big luxury brand, and as such, Mr. Maier doesn't have the experimental latitude of a Comme des Garcons, though some of his gestures suggest that he'd like to " make me secretly grin.

Some might find other critic's choice of words more descriptive, like for instance Rebecca Lowthorpe's from Elle UK, who described the collection in real fashion matter, but somehow boringly, "The silhouettes were architectural, with flat, square shoulders and skirts whose pleats folded outwards like cogs on an industrial machine. The colors were dark or intense: black, slate, smoke and pearl were punctured with red, yellow and curry-orange. And the fabrics ranged from heavy flannels to felted wools, leather, silk, satin and lacquered straw"

....whereas Cathy gave her words a whole lot of color and flare (least in my opinion), " A series of belted dresses or skirts featured pleats that jutted away from the hips, with the neat precision of an industrial filter (like the one in your vacuum cleaner), while a black coat revealed graduated layers of wool at the back that fluttered like petals as the model walked past"...

...and she continued with her more than honest opinion, " Along with these elaborate shapes, Mr. Maier included a few slim black dresses lightly mixed with black duchess satin, and one in black twill wool with a flat knitted bodice set at a slight diagonal. These dresses were more successful, to my eye, than the collaged or pleated numbers. Maybe that's because Mr. Maier can't help himself - he's a designer who inevitably seeks order and refinement, whereas someone like Ms. Kawakubo is completely comfortable with the opposite, and very often seeks it."

As we all know Valentines Day can turn out either way. Sometimes it is corny and over commercialized and other times it can actually turn out to be cute and thoughtful. I never gave too much thought to it and wasn't planning on doing so this year either. However, the morning of February 14th, an unexpected thing happened...and it just changed the entire flow of that day. My darling little daughter, who happens to be only three weeks old, received her very first Valentines card or I better say e-mail from her beloved friend, the only one she got so far, who is just two months older and just so happens to be my best friend's son.

After receiving this adorable picture of him in the cutest, most appropriate T-shirt for the occasion, my heart just melted....

I had to answer in a same if not exaggerated fashionable way...with a picture of my little one all Dolled up.......in her first disco outfit spiced up with (faux) Golden Uggs...

Who said they cannot be fashionable at this age too?

This peach colored outfit made me think of our near future and timeless fun I will have by dressing up my little girl. There are endless possibilities and so much fun in search of a perfect outfit for your child. I love the idea of them looking like our mini me-s. Kids clothing are becoming a powerful segment in our Fashion Industry these days. Their little outfits resemble adult-like looks more then ever. Just take a look at these adorable little ones...

Little miss Independent in a sand colored trench coat, over sized scarf and sunglasses, in hot red tights and fringe style boots...has a real New Yorker's look.

....and an ever so fashionable Little Old Man in his skinny jeans and tweed jacket with leather patches on his elbows wearing chocolate brown stitched boots makes any heart jump...

.....and who can resist this little Chanel Girl in her black leather dress complimented with a cross body Chanel bag and over sized Ray-Bans

Street fashion isn't just about us anymore...our children start to imitate us at the earliest age and many fashion bloggs can substantiate just how much fun designers are having with it.

“Spring trends” might typically call to mind Easter-egg colors and happy-go-lucky floral prints, but for Spring/Summer 2014 season, designers will emphasize on strong black-and-white looks (OK, there will be a few floral prints, too). Appropriate to wear year-round, easy to pull off at every budget, and sleek enough to work at the office or on date night, this trend is the definition of wearable. The ultramodern sleek look dominating next seasons trends will be a combination of minimalism and futuristic elements. Monochromatic color palette will be essential for Spring/Summer 2014 and with a combination of abstract patterns we might see some pretty bold graphic statements. Another few key items for the new season are sleeveless blazers, asymmetric skirts and tops as well as boxy tops and patterned pants, either skinny or wide legged, cropped or pajama style. So there is going to be something for everyone to choose from...I personally look forward the sleek futuristic look as I mostly prefer a minimalistic trend anyway...

Following up on my newest obsession the "Fendi 2013 Spring Collection" I came across this amazing web called www.purseblog.com that provides daily editorial of the hottest and most sought after designer purses in the fashion world. They cover all major premium handbags, including Louis Vuitton, Hermes, Balenciaga, Coach, Chanel and many more. I especially enjoyed their expansive section on celebrity style and bags the A-list celebrities are wearing and suggestions where to buy them. Another amazing feature of this web is many interesting interviews with new up-and-coming designers. It's worth to look it up...

A little tease for everyone...

Flipping through the pages of my latest Vogue, I stumbled upon a VISION... a seamless silhouette in diverse textured fabric and explosive print...a total PERFECTION.

It actually became a habit of mine in a past few years... to pick a designer or two each season that would totally blow my mind with his/hers newest creations and later on discuss it over a coffee with my best friend, who just happened to graduate from the same Institute of Fashion Industries as I. We have known each other since our teenage years...and somehow never got tired of discussing current fashion trends or going to shows and fashion exhibits at the MET.

The ultimate designer of this season for me just happened to be - Silvia Venturini FENDI...who as I later on discovered created the Spring 2013 Collection in collaboration with the magician itself - Karl Lagerfeld. So that is a secret behind FENDI's innovative style with almost architectural structure and beautiful geometric prints? Who would have thought?

Some of my favorite pieces of their Spring 2013 Collection...

My First Blog Entry ...

Hello everyone,

Reluctant as I felt setting up my Facebook account back in 2010 later on... to my biggest surprise, somehow I become to appreciate this form of communication and for me a very rare social phenomenon. Its quick and easy access to my friends and relatives not seen in years gave me a pleasure to share our life stories right at the point were we left off.... as there was no yesterday or ten years that had just past. However, the fear of exposure surrounded by the whole privacy issue did not leave me ever since, but for better or worst, Facebook became a part of my everyday life. I kind of feel the same way about this blog and since it is my very first, please bare with me...
